Teclo vs Thock It
Updated
Thock It reached the Mac App Store on 14 October 2026 and is the app closest to Teclo in what it plays: keyboards plus rain, marimba, bubble, laser and a typewriter. It is free to start and mutes itself in calls, which Teclo cannot do. Teclo has fewer sounds, a pet and a way to make your own.

The short answer
- Pick Thock It if you want a free keyboard sound to start with, recorded switches, an app that mutes itself in calls, meetings and chosen apps, or a headphones-only mode.
- Pick Teclo if you are on macOS 13, want every sound for one known price after a 1-day trial, trackpad swipe and pinch sounds, packs you make yourself, or the keycap pet.
The same names, different sounds
Thock It’s 25 “keycaps” are 10 keyboards and 15 extras: Typewriter, Chatter, Arcade, Pocket, Laser, Holo, Bubble, Rain, Woodblock, Chime, Bell, Gong, Kalimba, Marimba and Harp. Its listing says “the musical ones play a note for each key, so your typing turns into a tune”.
Five of those names are Teclo packs too, and Teclo publishes what each one measures. Rain is a small falling drop at 1,088 Hz that lasts 70 ms. Marimba is a soft mallet on a wooden bar at 713 Hz and 120 ms, the longest of all 16 packs. Laser is a fast falling zap at 2,649 Hz. Bubble pops upwards at 576 Hz, the lowest of all, and Typewriter rings a bell on Return. Teclo’s packs vary slightly in pitch on every press but do not play a melody. Play three of them above and compare with Thock It’s own type-to-try window.
Quiet Mode
Thock It Pro’s Quiet Mode is the strongest thing it has over Teclo. Its listing says it goes quiet “on a call or recording, or when the camera is on”, during calendar meetings, while music or video plays, when a real keyboard is plugged in or Low Power Mode is on, and during quiet hours. It can also play only in chosen apps, or only on headphones or speakers. Teclo has none of these; Teclo vs Kachunk covers another app with per-app silence.
Not to be confused with the open-source Thock or the App Store’s “Thock - Mechanical Keyboard”: Teclo vs Thock sorts those two out.
Questions
Is Thock It the same app as Thock?
No. Thock It is made by Voros Innovation & Business Services and sold on the Mac App Store. The open-source Thock on GitHub and "Thock - Mechanical Keyboard" are two other apps.
How much is Thock It Pro?
Its listing and site call Pro a one-time purchase but did not show the price when we checked on 25 October 2026. The free version has one keyboard sound, Ink, and one click, Classic.
Does Teclo mute itself in calls like Thock It?
No. Thock It Pro's Quiet Mode goes quiet on calls, with the camera on, during calendar meetings, while media plays and in apps you exclude. Teclo has none of that; you pause it from its menu bar icon.
Which runs on older macOS?
Teclo runs on macOS 13 or later. Thock It requires macOS 14.
