Click, scroll and trackpad sounds on a Mac
Updated
Keyboard sound apps can make your mouse and trackpad click too. Teclo plays a sound for left and right clicks, for every notch you scroll, and for trackpad swipes and pinches, each switched on or off in its Options.

What Teclo plays
| Option in Teclo | What you hear |
|---|---|
| Play mouse click sounds | A small switch snap for the left button and the same snap a tone lower for the right, press and release. Each sound pack has its own pair, made from that pack’s switch as a smaller, lighter one. |
| Play scroll sounds | One wheel notch for each step you scroll, spaced to follow your speed: one sound scrolling down, another scrolling up. |
| Play trackpad swipe and pinch sounds | A fingertip brushed across glass for a swipe, and the ticks of a zoom ring as you pinch. |
All three are in Teclo’s Options, at the bottom right of its window. A click on Teclo’s own pet makes no click sound.
Other apps
The table above lists what other apps say about mouse and scroll sounds; an app with neither listed may still have them. For the rest of what each does, see the guide to keyboard sound apps for Mac, and for getting started, how to make your Mac’s keyboard sound mechanical.
Questions
Can a Mac play a sound when I click the mouse?
Yes, with an app. In Teclo, tick "Play mouse click sounds" in Options; the left and right buttons each make their own sound.
Do trackpad clicks make a sound in Teclo?
Clicks on the trackpad play the click sound like a mouse button. Swipes and pinches have sounds of their own, under "Play trackpad swipe and pinch sounds".
Why do people want mouse click sounds?
It is one of the most requested features of keyboard sound apps: Mechvibes' top feature request on GitHub asks for it.
